Energy Rated Windows from Altus
To meet national standards, all windows today have to achieve an 'A', 'B' or 'C' level energy rating.
Please note that window specifications may vary dependent on manufacturers differing window suites. However, in layman's terms the different letters mean the following:
'C' Rated
Much the same window that has been available since the year 2000. It's main feature is 'K Glass', which you can find more information about at the Pilkington Glass website.
'B' Rated
The same as 'C' rated but with argon gas-filled sealed units and a low conductive spacer bar to separate the two panes of glass.
'A' Rated
The same as 'B' rated with additional 'opti-white' glass. This has had the iron removed to increase thermal efficiency. It also features a thermal insert in the cavity of the frame.
